As May comes to a close this weekend, we’re getting ready to welcome the month of June! This past month seemed to fly by, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the school year has gone. Over the last few weeks, we wrapped up our Community Theme by focusing on construction. The children had so much fun learning about builders, construction tools, and how structures are created in our communities. We were also thrilled to see our Glow Art projects and Artist Project displayed at the Art Show. The students were so proud of their hard work, and it was wonderful to see their creativity shine. As we move into June, we are excited to begin our final theme of the school year: Summer Fun! We look forward to exploring all the exciting things that make summer such a special season. It’s amazing to think that we have reached the final stretch of the school year, with only four weeks remaining. Throughout the year, we have continued to build independence, confidence, and important life skills. We are so proud of how much the children have grown, learned, and supported one another. We are already halfway through the month of March, and our classroom continues to stay busy and full of excitement! This week, we continued our Medical Play theme by learning all about dentists and teeth. The children had so much fun creating mouths with teeth together as a class while learning how to take care of their smiles. We also continued practicing important self-help skills and working on holding our writing utensils with the proper grip, helping build confidence in our everyday tasks. With the snow officially melted and the weather getting warmer, we’ve been enjoying the change of seasons. The class has also loved the continued visits from students in higher grades, as well as another special Mystery Reader who joined us to share a story. We even had a surprise visit from Lucky the Leprechaun on Tuesday, March 17th! He brought a bit of playful chaos to our classroom and left behind gold coins for us to find, making the day extra fun and memorable. As we begin to wrap up our Medical Play theme, we’re excited to introduce our next play theme: Community. January has come to an end, and what a wintery month it’s been! Throughout the month, we focused on winter and all the things that come with it, including winter weather, animals, what to wear to stay warm, and concepts like hibernation and adaptation. While the snow caused a few closures and delayed openings, we made it through the week together and kept our routines going strong. Even on the coldest days, we stayed warm and active inside the classroom by enjoying a variety of gross motor activities that kept our bodies moving and our energy up. The children also loved having help from students in higher grades, who have been wonderful role models and helpers in our classroom. Their visits always bring extra smiles and excitement to our day. As we head into February, we’re excited to begin our new Medical Play theme, where we’ll learn all about different types of doctors and ways to keep ourselves healthy. We’ll also continue building independence and confidence as the children practice doing more on their own each day. It’s been amazing to watch everyone grow, learn, and support one another as we move forward together.

Welcome to 2026! It’s hard to believe that January is already almost over. Since returning from Winter Break, we’ve had an amazing few weeks back filled with learning, reconnecting, and settling back into our routines. The classroom has been buzzing with energy as the students jumped right back in, and the snowy weather has helped keep our winter discussions exciting and meaningful. Over the past few weeks, our focus has been on winter and all the things that come with it, including weather changes, winter animals, what to wear in cold temperatures, and concepts like hibernation and adaptation. We also had some very special visitors! A police officer came to speak with the class, and the children learned a lot about safety and community helpers. In addition, students from higher grades have been helping in our classroom, which our class has truly enjoyed—especially when a 4th grader joined us this week to read a story during snack time. We were also excited to welcome a few new faces into our classroom community, and the students did a wonderful job making everyone feel included and supported. Throughout it all, we continue to focus on independence and building confidence as the children practice doing more things on their own each day. It has been so rewarding to watch their growth, and we are proud of how much everyone continues to learn and thrive together.

Friday, December 19, 2025

December has flown by, and we can hardly believe we’ve already reached Winter Break! The excitement in our classroom has been contagious, especially as we continued our Restaurant play theme. This week, the children worked together to create even more classroom props, including a grill, which added new energy and creativity to our dramatic play area. We also got to experience our very first snow of the winter, making the season feel extra special. Last week, we explored hibernation and learned about Arctic animals, and this week our focus shifted to the season of winter, snow, and snowflakes. Spirit Week brought so much joy and laughter—Monday we dressed like candy canes, Wednesday we became gingerbread men and women, and today we wrapped it all up by relaxing in our pajamas during our Winter celebration. These special days helped make lasting memories as we head into the holiday season. Although Winter Break begins next week, we still have two more days together before our time off. Throughout it all, we’ve continued working on independence and building confidence as the children take pride in what they can do on their own. Watching how much everyone has grown and learned has been incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait to welcome everyone back after the New Year and continue our journey together!

We’ve reached the end of November, and what a warm and wonderful month it has been in our classroom! The students continued exploring our Restaurant play theme, getting creative and working together to build new spaces and props, including an exciting new pizza oven for our dramatic play center. Last week, we focused on pizzerias, and everyone had so much fun imagining the daily life of a pizza shop—and even turning each other into human pizzas during a playful classroom activity that brought lots of laughter and teamwork. This week, we shifted our hearts toward gratitude as we talked about what we are thankful for with Thanksgiving now officially here. The colder weather reminded us to dress extra cozy for outdoor time, and the children are doing a great job practicing independence—trying new skills, helping with cleanup, and taking pride in the things they can do on their own. It’s been beautiful to watch them grow in confidence as we continue learning and supporting one another, side by side, every day.

As the chilly weather settles in, we’ve continued practicing independence—zipping coats, cleaning up, and trying new tasks with growing confidence. With Thanksgiving around the corner, we’ve also begun talking about gratitude and what we are thankful for. What a fun few weeks it’s been! Even with our shortened weeks, we’ve stayed busy learning and creating together. Last week, we learned all about bats while continuing our Family Theme. This week, we shifted our focus to pumpkins! We explored whether a pumpkin would sink or float, examined the inside of a real pumpkin, and even created our own Pumpkin Life Cycles. The class also worked together to make a car and a TV for our classroom using recycled materials—such creativity!

To wrap up the week, we celebrated with a dance party that brought lots of smiles and laughter. The weather is getting colder, so please remember to send in warm clothing for outdoor play. As spooky season comes to an end, we’ll be closing out our Family Play Theme next week while learning about scarecrows. We’re especially excited for our Fall Frolic Party at the end of the week—it’s sure to be a wonderful way to celebrate all we’ve learned this month!
